“SHORT AND SWEET” CIVIL SERVICE SALARIES HON. A. HAMILTON'S COMMENT [ Ter Press Association. | AUCKLAND, July 19. An indication that the coming session of Parliament, to open on August 29, is likely tu be “short and sweet’’ was given by the Hon. A. Hamilton on hi arrival to-day on a brief visit. He said that all of the main problems had been disposed, of last session and he did not know of any important policy matters that would be brought down next session. The session would be a normal one, continuing through September and October, and possibly into early November.

Asked concerning '1 he possible further restoration ot the Civil Service salary .cuts, Mr. Hamilton said that he was unable to voice any opinion. Such matters depended on the financial position, and there were people xiho said that the general taxation should first be reduced. The whole position would have to be sized up later. Questioned concerning the possibility of an alteration to the electoral laws, Mr. Hamilton said that he had not discussed it and it had not been formally discussed by Cabinet. “I don’t think any news could be better, unless it were news of a general rise in prices for primary produce,’’ said the Minister in referring to the meat agreement.
