Mrs. Harold Jones, Grey Street, entertained a party of young people at her home last Saturday, the occasion being the birthday of her daughter, Hope. Hill, Grey Street, entertained friends at a very pleasant afternoon eard party on Tuesday, yvhen the prize was wou by Mrs. B. Hoar. Among others present were Mesdamcs AV. J. Stone, Treloar, H. Willis, F. E. Everett, .Meuli, Wainwright, Fisher, A. E. Halligan, B. Delves and H. Fry. Enjoyable Concert. Every seat in the W.D.F.L’. room was occupied on Tuesday evening, the occasion being a concert organised by the Ladies’ Loyal Orange Lodge. A most enjoyable programme was given. There yvere several delightful items by the children of the Margaret Watt Home, I Mrs. Rule acting as accompaniste. Miss Wilson played a pianoforte solo, songs yvere given by Mrs. Atkinson and Miss Ashmore, and a recitation by Miss Dorothy Longstrtif. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. S. Kendall. Wanganui East Croquet Club. A successful bridge and “500” party organised in aid of the Wanganui East Croquet Club was held at the residence of Mrs. J. Kcdpath, Wanganui East, on Thursday evening, when those who at- ■ tended spent a must enjoyable fevy hours. Mrs. A. E. Halligan won the bridge prize and Mrs. Fowler the “500.” Among others present were Mesdamcs W. A. Veitch, J. H. Hill, W. Stone, H. Fry, E. Walpole, Walker, Noble, Burns, Walters, 11. F. Maori Atmosphere. The ‘‘first birthday party” of the New Zealand Club, in Sydney, was a most enjoyable affair. The cake presented by Mr. and Mrs. Kilgour was decorated to represent the once-famous I pink and white terraces. The solitary candle in the ceutn was surrounded by dolls dressed as Maori children. A very enjoyable evening was spent at the attractive home of Mrs. Partridge, Somme Parade, last ’1 hurs- | day, when many friends of Miss Annes gathered together for the occasion of “Wishing her Many Happy Returns’ for her coming of-age. The drawing room, especially prepared for dancing, was decorated with blue and gold streamers and bowls of choice blue owers and asparagus fern. Dancing was interspersed with games and musical items, while the older friends gath cred round card tables. Songs were rendered by Miss Bell, Mrs. Gray, Miss I Old and Mr. Scott.
