ON MARTON TRACKS

TRAINING OPERATIONS. (Our Own Correspondent). Most 1 of the horses on ihe .Marlon tracks on Friday ’i.orning were restricted to pace work. Ringapoto galloped half a mile, ihe last three furlongs in 43sec*. and then went once round at half pace. Middle and Jhapera did pace work and also Clarion Call, Ngila, Even Money, Lifeguard, Pukepapa. In the Air and Tam bo. Brigadore and Invictus worked together. Brigadore will start at the Rangitikei Hunt meeting and with Invictas will compete at the Manawatu Hunt meeting and then go on to the Grand National meeting at Riccarton. The tracks were in good order and if ihe present weather conditions improve the tracks will be in good order for Wednesday next. The Storm Wind (Q. O. Wilson Gisborne Jack (K. Duncan) and Conference (W. IDuncan i, gave an interesting di'p.ay over the steeplechase course. I’he Storm Wind took the lead and jumping freely led Gisborne Jack and Conference over the first round. Coming to the double at the back of the course the trio were together, but Conference made a bad jump at the first obstacle of the double and dropped back about a chain. to the last jump Gisborne Jack was in front with i’he Storm Wind handy. A good finish down the. straight saw The Storm Wind with a slight lead from Conference and Gisborne Jack. Splendid entries are being received for the Rangitikei Hunt's point-to-point steeplechases to be held on Wednesday, July 31. The course is on Neuman’s Line about one mile from Marton off the Wanganui Road. Entries finally clo.-e on Friday, July 26 at 9 p.m.
