Prior tu the first race there will be a parade ox rising two-year-ords al 11.4 a a.m. and another ai 1.4 a p.iu. The track promises to be in goud winter order. The totalisator will be worked on the old two-dividend system, paying a hist dividend or id per cent, and a secund dividend of 2j per cent, on all races or five or more starters. The meeting will open with the Otane Hack nurdles, lor which, six are engaged, with Lauy Bpy having me best credentials. Cotsiieid may oe next in request to the topweignt. The Okawa Maiden herd is quite a good one, including as it docs several with good recent performances, ihree that appeal at this distance are Bhu, Royal varter and Mahora Grand. Seven are down to contest the Hawke s bay Hunt Cup Steeplechase, though Cotsiieid is also in the opening event and The Drone and Miss I'angu are down to contest the Hunters' dial later on. The indications are that The Ranger will have improved sufficiently on his second to Cometra at Dannevirke to have an excellent chance, while Cotsiieid and The Drone may be next in request. Kun over a mile and a-quarter, the Riverslea Handicap may nnd Unexpected preferred to Maine and Joy Stick.

A good deal depends on the riders iu the Boutra Hunteu flat, but decently handled Cometra will be prominent, while of the others Hukcmanu and Vera Lux should have friends. The hack sprinters will provide one of the best events of the day, for they appear to be an even lot. Hest may be reserved for the concluding event, but in her absence Royal Feast. Snowball and Father’s Choice would be well supported. Half a dozen may line up for the Tikokino Handicap, the last event on the card, with the topweights likely to do best.
