YOUTH DROWNED
FIFTH ACCIDENT IN MONTH. ( P«r Fre«* As*ocl*uoa J. AUCKLAND, April 28. Cameron Cuthbert, aged 18, eldes son of Mrs. K. \\. J. Cuthbert, o Mungawhare, was drowned about 1 o'clock this morning when his canO, capsized near the mouth of the North ern Wairoa River. This is the lifti drowning accident to have occurred i the vicinity in the past four weeks. I The youth has just launched ■ home-made canoe in the presence of ■ friend, Mr. L. E. Warmington, wJu ■ had helped in the construction of th uafl. Tne river was in a treacherous cou dition, with dangerous currents pro duced by the falling tide and a cros wind. Mr Warmington tested Hit canoe .irst, but when the youth too] .1 out to the middle of the river i suddenly capsized, tipping him iut the water. Rescue efforts by Mr. War miugton failed.
