Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, April 29, 4 p.m. General Situation. —Deep depressions are situated over south-eastern Australia and to the east of New Zealand respectively, while an .anticyclone of slight intensity is approaching across the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Strong south-west to southerly, reaching gale force in places, but moderating to-morrow. Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly winds, decreasing later and becoming variable; seas moderate to rather rough, but decreasing. Weather: Changeable in eastern districts and in North Auckland, with showers at times. Some heavy falls between Hawke's Bay and East Capo, otherwise fine and improving generally to-morrow. Temperatures cold. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, nil. Rainfall, .17 inches. Shade, temperature: Maximum, 60 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 52 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for April: New moon, April 3; first quarter, April 11; full moon, April 19; last quarter, April 26.
