WEDDING. JEFFERSON—GIBBS. A very quiet wedding was solemn nised at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs, Tutaenui, on April 11, when Gladys, third daughter of Air. and Airs. F. Gibbs was married to John, eldest son of Air. and Mrs. J. O. Jefferson, Tutaenui. The Rev. D. Alclvor was ihe officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty frock of blu». and white w r ith hat to match. The bridesmaid. Miss L. Gibb®, sister of the bride, wore a frock of floral green with hat to match. Both carried bouquets to match their frocks. The duties df best man were carried out by Air. R. Jefferson, brother of the bridegroom. After the ceremony intimate relations w T ere entertained at afternoon tea.

RANGITIKEI HUNT. Scent was particularly good in any creeks or hollows but failing for some unknown reason in some of the paddocks. After circling several times hounds bowled their quarry over in the open. Marshall, Lady Blake; A. Hammond, Cheeky; G. H. Morris, Platina. The hounds meet at “Burleigh,” Bulls, on Saturday next. NGA TAWA OLD GIRLS. ANNEAL REUNION FUNCTION. On Saturday night the programme in connection with the Old Girls’ Association uf the Wellington Diocesan School fur Giris at Nga J awa, Marton, continued with a must amusing play, produced and acted by the Palmerston North branch uf the association. The girls are indeed tv be congratulated for their presentation was bright and witty, without any dragging, and holding the interest or their audience without effo-rt. There followed a repetition of H.M.d. Pinafore, which the school presented last year most successfully, coached by Miss Salmond, who was entirely responsible for the production in every detail. The Old Girls’ supper took place later in the evening. The long tables, on. which were arranged the house colours, were set in the centre of the dining ha I. Miss Mitchell, president, with th© chaplain, the Rev. W. Paine, mid the branch secretaries sat at the lop table. Besides the members of the Old Girls’ Association, Mrs, Raine, and Mr. Sprott, a son of Bishcp Spruit, were present. There were many toasts and some charming speeches, much laughter and happiness. A noticeable improvemerit uas the manner in whirl' the prefects and house leaders respond cd to toasts. They held their heads up and spoke cell and truly, without an; schoolgirl gancberie. They all stressed the fact that Miss Mi’chell Lad taught them how to work amJ that the school was working harder than it had for years aud enjoying it, wich reminds one that “appetite comes with eating.” Them certainly arc improvements c er y where inside and out, which shows method and organisation, and they catch even the chance eye of a visitor. The old girls feel that indeed all is well with Nga Taw a. Alany of them with young families are looking fcTward to the time when they way be able to send their daughters. Sunday’s programme began with early celebration in the Barker Alemuiiai Chapel, which is a beautiful building built by the old girls and now entirely free from debt, in Juvi.ng memory of Alary Frances Barker, AI.A., first headmistress of the school. Sanson, of Rangiwahia, has been appointed caretaker at the Marton Jockey Club’s grounds. There were 30 applicants. MARTON BOXING ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Marton Boxing Association will be held in the Marton Jockey Club’s room on Friday, May 3, at 8 p.m. Atembers of the executive committee are requested to attend a meeting at 7.3,0 p.m.
