Second Blooming of Bruit Trees. The blooming of apple trees for the second time this season has been reported from several suburbs of Auckland. An even more unusual event is to have a tree bearing fruit and being in blossom again. A case of this strange combination is an old pear tree on the property of Dr. J. P. Hastings, in Pon sonbv Road, Auckland. ( Improvements in Estuary. Recent changes in the formation ot xand-banks in the estuary at New Brighton have had the effect of giving a much better depth and width of water for motor-boating. Apparently ibe action of the sea on the New Brighton spit has thrown the force or the tidal water on to a large sand-bank in the middle of the estuary. A very big section of this bank has now been washed away, and it is claimed that boats using those reaches of the estuary are able to work in much more satisfactory conditions than for some years. Cheap European Hotels. Reference to the cheapness of hotel accommodation in Europe was made by Professor R. M.
