Since the rain the temperature has fallen and the air is much fresher.
FALL IN WAIKATO. MUCH MORE NEEDED. HAMILTON, Feb. 5. As the result, of intermittent rain throughout 'the night the pastures in the Waikato district have been relieved, but considerably more rain is imperative to bring the pastures back from the parched state of the past several months. Light rain fell on Saturday and last night’s fall will assist in certain areas. The rain was insufficient, however, to stop the swmp fires, which still continue to do damage to much of the pasture land round the district.
