NEW SCHEDULE OF RATES I’ROTEST RESOLUTION | Per Press Association. ] ASHBURTON, Feb. 5. A largely-attended meeting of un employed discusesd the new schedule of rates adopted by the Unemployment Board and it was considered that as the rates were 25 per cent, less than offvred to the larger centres and not sufbeient to maintain men with families, much less pay rents, and as the opportunity to earn anything outside of the scheme was nil, the following icsolutioii be forwarded to the board: “This meeting of unemployed of Ashburton demand an increase of at least ten shillings a week all round.” Tr was also decided Io invoke, the aid of local bodies.
