AMATEUR ATHLETICS An attempt to revive the interest in the activities of the Patea Amateur Athletic Club was made at a meeting of the committee last Monday evening, Mr F. Locker presiding. It was agreed that the inability of athletes to attend the weekly runs so early in the evening was a great factor in the lack of competitors. To overcome this, the committee discussed the advisability of having the track illuminated, and it was finally decided to approach the Borough Council with this object. It the matter of electric-light sports was settled upon, it was stated that the Municipal Band would be in attendance and the weekly runs could be made quite attractive to onlookers. A general meeting of members of the club is to be called for next Tuesdav evening, when a full muster is asked for fn discuss the question of increasing interest.
