AGED PROSPECTOR
DEATH AT WAIKAREMOANA [ Per Press Association ] WALBOA, Feb. 4. The police received word to-day that lhe body of a man named Tom Hardy had been found two and a-half miles from his camp at Hopurahiue, Waikaremoana. Deceased was in business for many years at Wairoa, and after the sale of nis business went prospecting back of Waikaremoana. He located a quartz claim, and considered the prospects good, but required a small battery to make the claim a paying proposition. He had made application to th® Government for assistance. Deceased also prospected back of Maungataniwha and found silver, but the country was too rough to make it payable. Hardy was a gold miner in Australia and was pres ent at the first gold rush to <’oolgardie. He made a fortune, Ixit quickly i spent it. He xyas aged about 85 years.
