An effort to arouse public interest in the need to maintain quiet as much as possible in passing the Auckland Hospital was made on Saturday by a private citizen, who employed two men to stand near the institution, holding signs bearing the w’ords: “Hospital, Think of Those Inside. Motorists, Drive Quietly.” One man took up a position at the Corner of Park Road and Grafton Road, where he was clearly to be seen by motorists crossing Grafton Bridge from the city, while the other was stationed art the corner of Park Road and Domain Drive. The placards, which were carried on long poles, were conspicuous, and bore a white cross in a circular red grouud. While mystery surrounded the identity of the citizen responsible for the attempt to bring about public, action, his work had results, for it was apparent to observers that motorists heeded the signs, and traffic proceeded along Park Road between Grafton Road and Domain Drive quietly and at a moderate pace.
