BULLS

BOWLING. During t'hc week-end several inter esting games were played on the local bowling green, the principal results being as follows: Perrott, Drew 25 defeated Ede, Cole 12. Ellery. Barlow, Wilson, Stevens 22, defeated Ede, Archer, Walker, Cole 16. ON THE RANGE. The Rangitikei—Cheltenham Rifle Association meeting will be held on the Bulls range to-day, and it is anticiI pated that about. 100 riflemen will take part. Entries have been received from Wanganui, Turakina, Marton, Rangi 'wahia, Cheltenham and other parts. The range officer is Captain Hugh Johnston. M.C., and the honorary secre tary, .Mr. 1). Lundy, has arrangements well in hand for the smooth running of ■lhe meeting. There a good attendance at the weekly shun! held on the Bulls range on Saturday afternoon, and scores were as follow:

GENERAL NEWS. Lf the weather is line to-day. tlhc holiday will be spent in various ways bv local people, some witnessing the rifle matches at Bulls, and others being divided between the sports at Great ford, races at Ash hurst and the ■attractions of river and beach. A ■few havp gone further afield, to Wellington races, where the locally-trained •sprinter Diatomous is expected to run well forward if the going is firm. On Saturday members of Bulls R.S.A., with their wives and children, held a ■picnic on the Domain. The weather was not all that could be desired, but all appeared to enjoy them selves. Patching of the Bulls-Turakina Road was completed last week, and Mr. Me Reynolds and his meu are now engaged giving the road a second coat of 'bituanen. Polo practice was continued on Saturday, there being a good attendance both of players and of spectators. The game is proving very popular here, and the majority have solved the transport problem by conveying their horses in specially-designed trailers attached to cars or trucks. Mr. and Airs. D. W. Wilson and family, who toured the Auckland district by car. returned home last week after an interesting trip. Several adherents of the Douglas Social Credit scheme left by car on Saturday to attend t’he D.S.C. encampment at. Tauranga. They expect to be absent for a week. WEEK-END CRICKET. Tn fine but windy weather Bulls Cricket Chib and Galliehau’s eleven played during tJhe week-end, the Palmerstonians being much too good, ami winning by 138 runs. Gallichan won the spin of the coin and batted, his side making 245, of which Monteith (who was dropped before he scored) put on 85, Gallichan 48, and Spelman 39. Bulks scored 110 in the first innings, Stock being undefeated with 30. Foliiowing on, Bulls, added 80 for five wickets. Stocking being again not out, with 15, and Montgomery batting freely for 26.
