IMPOUNDED CATTLE
ATTEMPT TO SEIZE THEM A MIDNIGHT BATTLE Received Jan. 22. 12.6 a.in. BELFAST, Jan. 21. Many shots were exchanged in a midnight battle at Clogher, near the Free State border, when ten masked smugglers attempted to recapture a hundred cattle which the Customs seized and impounded. The raiders, rounding up the cattle, disturbed the guards, whoso shooting stampeded the cattle, upon which the raiders fled across the border. Squads of Customs officers and police were called out, but were too late except to round up the animals again
