BROTHER EUGENE FOUND
BROUGHT BACK WOUNDED SYDNEY, Jan. 21. A message from Salamoa says that the district officer (Air. Melrose) has returned to Salamoa from Mount Hagen bringing Brother Eugene, who was re ported killed by natives- Brother Eugene was seriously wounded, having been speared in a lung. An -earlier Salamoa message slated that the district officer and detachments of native constabulary who were searching for the murderers of Father Mossreiser and Brother Eugene were waiting for reinforcements. This information was brought on January 17 by Pilot O’Dea, who said that he saw a large and warlike body of natives apparently waiting to attack the police.
