BRITAIN’S PERIL
RELIANCE ON NAVY RECENT MANOEUVRES WARPLANES’ SUPERIORITY [By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright! Received Nov. 5, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 4. The Daily Mail contends that the lesson from the manoeuvres on November 3 is that had Britain been actually at war, it is doubtful whether she would at present have a navy. It was shown how ridiculously easy a small number of warplanes can defeat a strong naval force. The Alai I cites Lord Rothermcre’s contention that the day of the warship is over. The desperate deficiency in warplanes has placed England in deadly peril. The Government must immediately start building thousands.
