OBITUARY

MBS. MARGARET ÜBQUHAET. The death occurred at au early hour yesterday morning of one of Wanganui’s old inhabitants in the person of Mrs. Margaret Urquhart, of Wilson St., Wanganui. The late Mrs, Urquhart was 86 years of age and her death followed upon an illness of a few days. Ihe deceased was a daughter of Mr. Peter Drummond, barrister and solicitor of Perth, Scotland, and she arrived in New Zealand a long time ago. She married Mr. jj uncan Urquhart, who was for many years one of the best-known identities in Wanganui, his occupation as a builder being responsible for a good share in the erection of several of Wanganui ’s early business premises and residences. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Urquhart was always an open house for their friends and other visitors, their hospitality and charitable work being well known to the older generation. The late Mrs. Urquhart was very interesting when dealing with the early history of Wanganui and district her reminiscences being very entertaining and instructive. Her husbad prede- ' ceased her some years ago. Mrs. Urquhart leaves a grown-up family of > three daughters and two suns: Airs. J. ’ A, Hair, Misses J. and !•’. Urquhart, ■ all of Wanganui; and Messrs. W. : Urquhart (Wellington) and 11. ' Urquhart (Australia). 1 Tho funeral takes place at 10 o'clock 1 this morning.
