METROPOLITAN UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. LAST NIGHT’S MEETING. The Management Committee of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union met last night, Mr. J. Moye presiding. There were also present Messrs. W. K. McElwain, J. Uoiterill, A. Lockett, H. Udy, A. C. Danielson. A vote of thanks to the Garrison Band was carried, appreciation of the band turning out last Saturday being expressed. The Kawhaiki Football Club was granted permission to play in the Avoca cup competition at Makirikiri. Arrangements were made lor the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union team lor Ohakune next Saturday to leave from the Provincial Hotel al 8 a.in. Mr. J. (Jotterill is the manager. The question of the Wilson Cup was raised by Mr. Udy. He asked whether the rules specified that the cup could only be played for once in the season. Mr. McElwain also referred to the same matter. ■ Mr. Danielson replied that the rules were the same as ior the Mauriland Cup. The team, which held the cup from the previous season was the only one permitted to for it twice in the one season. They had a right of final challenge. Mr. Lockett said that he felt sure Technical Uid Boys, who were not the holders originally, had played twice this season. They played Kaierau and then Pirates and had won it on the last occasion. Mr. Cotterill advocated a closing date for challenges lor this competition, as the present system had the Fixtures Committee in an awkward position. The question was referred to the Fixtures Committee with power to act Io deal with the present situation and to make a recommendation with regard to amending the rules for next year. The total gate takings for the season were reported by Mr. Swan as £579 3s 9d, against £533 last year. TO TOUR SOUTH WANGANUI RUGBY TEAM. The following arrangements have been made by the Wanganui Rugby Union in regard to matches to be played on the furthcoming tour: — The team will leave Wanganui for Wellington by express at 12.4 p.m. on Friday. Taihape and Rangitikei members will join the train at Marton Junction, and will therefore need to ge return tickets from their homes to Marton Junction, recovering the cost from their respective sub-unions. The team will play Wellington next {Saturday, cross to Picton on Monday, play Marlborough at Blenheim on Wednesday, play Golden Bay-Motueka at Motueka on the following Saturday, returning by boat from Nelson to Wellington the same night, and returning to Wanganui on the Sunday. Any player unable to make the trip must notify the selectors immediately. NELSON’S ALL BLACK NOT IN REPRESENTATIVES. A SPORTING ATTITUDE. ( Ter Press Association ). NELSON, Sept. 4. Considerable surprise has been expressed at the non-incltfsion of the All Black, D. Max, of Nelson, in the Seddon Shield team to meect Marlborough on Saturday. The selector, Mr. E. Snow, says the present pack which is on tour in the South has been working together so well that it would be unwise to break the existing combination. D. Max, when informed of the position, said that he appreciated the selector’s position. The Nelson team had been together for a series of matches and with all playing well it would be hard for the selector to drop any one of them. However, he would keep fit, and if in any eventuality he was required to fill the vacancy he would be ready. NELSON TEAM'S TOUR MATCH AT ASHBURTON. DEFEAT OF VISITORS.
