PLUNKET DANCE. A very successful dance in aid of th< Plunket Society was held in thi ID raids’ Hall. Excellent music was pro vided by the Melody band, and extra were given by Miss T. Anderson am Mr. T. .1. Quayle, Mr. W. Guy made ai efficient 31. C. The Monte Carlo com petition was won by Miss Waldegravi and Mr. A. Laird and the spot wait: by Mr. C. Cross and Miss J. Anderson A bountiful supper was served by th< ladies, three sittings being required t< satisfy the dancers. GENERAL. Advice has been received of thi death of Mr. B. B. Swinburne a Motueka. Mr. Swinburne was at on( time electrical engineer to the Raetih Borough Council. A sitting of the No. 5 Distric Transport Licensing Authority will b< held at Raetihi on September 15 t( hear evidence and representations ii favour of or against granting of re newals of goods service licences. Airs. K. Bigley, of Taum&runui, whi has been on a visit to her relations, ha returned home. Mr L. Keucke is at present on i holiday to Walton near Matamata. Mrs. J. B. Edmonds, of Helensvdlle is spending a short holiday with he parents, Mr. and Airs. Jack. Tenders are being called for lease of a number of sections in R-aetihi 41 native district. Special mission services have beei conducted by members of the Churcl Army in the Anglican Church during the past week, services have been hell every evening and afternoon. Settlers in the Alangapurua distric are anxious that the work on the roat and at Morgan’s bridge, for which i grant appears on the Public Works
