AIR DEFENCES
’J’HE cause of military aviation can easily be advanced by staging a spectacular air raid on the capital of the country. Seeing that the Air Force naturally wants to have its vote increased it is hardly to be expected that the airmen will ever demonstrate the adequacy of the material at the. disposal of their aviation departments. It will be remembered that the air attack on London was deemed to be successful from the point of view of the raiders; the same result followed from the Japanese air manoeuvres, and now the attack on Paris has been acclaimed a success. What is actually demonstrated is that air votes cannot be decided by aviation manoeuvres. If they were the sky would be the limit.
