CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES
Christ Jesus was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, September 2. The Golden Text was from I John 5:1, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat Him loveth Him also that is begotten of Him.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following I from the Bible: “Jesus answered them. 1 told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. If I do not the works of My Father believe Me not. But if I do, though ye believe not Ale, believe the works: that ye may know 7 , and believe, that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.’ (John 10: 25, 37, 38). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scrip tures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: “Jesus established His church and maintained His mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing. He taught His followers that His religion had a divine principle, which would cast out error and heal both the sick and |he sinning. He claimed no intelligence, action, nor life separate from God.” (135, 136).
