PLEA FOR BIBLE IN SCHOOLS MASS WELLINGTON MEETING [Per Press Association ] WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. “Our motives are pure, and we only aik for justice. We desire only to isjrve and honour our God, and to give to His children the best form of edu- ■ cation which it is possible for them |to have. We desire, in short, to carry ' out loyally the declaration of Geneva that mankind owes to the child the i best it has to give,” said Dr. Averill, I Archbishop and Primate of New Zealand in concluding an address at a i mass meeting held in the Wellington I Town Hall this afternoon under the auspices of the Bible in State School* League. The meeting resolved to appeal tc Parliament to give statutory enactment to the Religious Instruction in Public Schools Enabling Bill without furthei delay. There was an attendance of approximately’ 1500, Sir James Allen bein? ir the chair.
