FORDELL GAME STOPPED SPECTATOR DEBARRED ATTENDANCE The Management Committee of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union was held last evening. Mr. J. Moye presided, and the following wore also present: .Messrs. C. A. .Danielson, H. Whiting, E. Naumann, A. Takarangi, A. Lockett, R. Sewell, J. E. Bannister, J. Cotterill, W. B. McElwain and the secretary, Mr. C. Swan. The application for the reclassification of Brougham and Cornish was reported to have been withdrawn. It was reported that the Queen Alexandra Band would play at the Pownall Trophy match on July 14. The matter of selecting a Wanganui B team, to play against Wairoa ou July 14, as a curtain-raiser, is to be referred to Mr..E. McDonald if the necessity arises. Mr. H. Whiting is to manage the Wanganui A team. The Kaierau Club notified the action of the referee in awarding the game set down to be played last Saturday between Kaierau junior B team and Technical Old Boys’ junior A to the Technical team without either side having taken the field. It was stated that there were eight or ten Kaierau players passing a ball around while waiting for the whistle. The referee reported that he bad waited 18 minutes for the Kaierau team of which he had only seen two players. Mr. MeEl'.A&in, representing the executive of the Wanganui Referees’ Association, tendered an apology on behalf of his executive in view of the fact that the referee had not ordered the bail to be kicked off, despite the fact, that one weak team was present. Mr. McElwain said that it was a custom of which the referee concerned had no knowledge. According to custom, the game should have been started although on© team was decidedly weak. Discussion took place in which it was stated that the Kaierau team was one of those that had been promoted from the third grade. The club had been called on to field two junior teams, and there had been a shortage of two players in the B team. The players had left the training shed at 1.40 p.m. to play. It was agreed that the game should be replayed later in the season if necessary. The Kaierau Club wrote pointing out that the Kaierau B and Technical Old Boys’ B junior teams were, in reality, third grade teams, and asked how they would be affected with regard to the Weekes Cup competition. It was asked whether a win or loss by either of the teams would count in the percentage for the cup, except when the two teams played each other. It was agreed by the committee that only those games should count for the cup in which the two teams mentioned played each other. It was reported that the referee at Fordell last Saturday had been obliged to stop the match between Kaierau and County ten minutes before time on account "of the conduct of a certain spectator.
