YOUNG WOMAN’S OFFENCE. [ Per TresH Association. ) AUCKLAND, June 29. An Auckland resident who engaged a housekeeper while his wife was absent, found her work satisfactory, but after a week she suddenly left the house and two young children unattended. Next day a second-hand dealer called to collect the furniture which he had bought from the woman, who represented herself as the householder’s wife. Au a result Alma Grey, aged 24, appeared at the Police Court to-day charged with obtaining about £36 by representing that the goods were her own property. The police said that she had practically stripped the house. The magistrate granted her probation on condition that she spends two years in a homeftfor young women.
