IRISH FREE STATE
LOCAL ELECTION RESULTS. STALEMATE INDICATED. DUBLIN, June 28. The latest Free State local election figures indicate a stalemate, the natural political allian.es being the Fianna Fail and Labour on the one hand and O’Duffy’s United Ireland Party or Fine Gael oil the other. Neither group can claim tho verdiet for or against tho Government’s agricultural policy of a continuance of the economic war against Britain. Fianna Fail’s offensive apparently failed, and it was still unsuccessful in capturing the local authorities, whose indifference to Mr. de Valera’s plans prevented their 'fulfilment. It is thought that Mr. de Valera may dissolve the Dail and seek the country’s verdict on a full Parliamentary franchise instead of the limited franchise of a local election. LATEST RETURNS Received June 29, 10.5 p.m. LONDON, June 29. In the Irish elections the latest returns arc:— Fianna Fail 500 Labour 138 Fine Gael 390 Independents . 293
