TARIFF DUTIES
AUSTRALIA AND DOMINION FEDERAL LEGISLATION Received June 29, 11.5 p.m. CANBERRA, June 29. Power to adjust the tariff duties on certain goods from New Zealand was conferred on tho Minister of Customs, Mr. White, by the Trade Treaty Bill, which passed all stages in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Stewart, Minister of Customs, said that the difficult position with New Zealand was due to tho belief that Australia had not always played tho game. Mr. Stewart added that the recent conference with the New Zealand mycologist at Canberra would also probably mean the removal of all the embargoes, subject to the necessary safeguards between the two countries.
