meeting of executive. DATE OF ANNUAL MEETING. The executive committee of the Boys’ and Girls* Clubs iu the Wan-ganui-Main Trunk district was held at Wanganui yesterday, Mr. G. Spratt presiding. There were also present Messrs. A. M. [Sims, T. W. Lonsdale, T. [Stafford, 11. Cleland, E. Aitken, W. Howie, J. B. Hogg, J. Rc-bb and F. G. fSeddon (secretary). Air. Sedcon reported that the income lor the yeti's working, over a period Gf 15 months, had been £67 18s 9d and the expenditure £64 Os sd. leaving a balance of £3 18s 4d. Another £6 had yet to be paid out for prize money. It was decided that the prize money should be paid out, leaving a debit of £2 Is Bd. The committee decided that, in future, the financial year should end on June 30. Correspondence was received from the Wanganui Education Board with regard to adverse comments made concerning incidents that had taken place in connection with the judging of calves at Fordoil. The matter -was
fully discussed, and the committee expressed its regret at the misunderstanding that had arisen. It admitted that the cause had been due to its officials having arrived at the school ahead of scheduled time. Air. Robb pointed out that the executive committee was only in its early stages of conducting the competitions, and that unlooked-for incidents might occur from time to time. He hoped that both the executive committee anil the school committees would take the long view and work for future success. A letter was-received from Mr. D. M. Jillett (Manutahi) containing many good suggestions. It was agreed that Mr. Jillett be asked to attend the annual meeting and to give a brief address. The annual meeting is to take place on Friday, July 6, at 7 p.m. School committees, the Farmers' Unicoi county councils and dairy companies are to be advised of the date and asked to send representatives. Schools are to be circularised after the annual meeting, and the same conditions as were stipulated last year will be in vogue during the coming year. Calves born during the period July 1 to September 30 will be eligible for the competition. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Spratt, on behalf of the committee, presented Mr. Cleland with a tobacco pouch as a mark of appreciation of the work done by Air. Cleland, and a memory of the pleasant times spent with him in connection with the calf club activities. He hoped that Mr. Cleland would continue the good work when he went north. Air. Cleland briefly replied, thanking the committee for the gift.
