WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. The monthly meeting of 'the Poukiorc Women's Institute was held in the hall on June 20, Mrs. Powell presided over 30 members. Airs. Bartlett, of Ohingaiti, and Miss Gibbs of Wanganui were present. Prior to the ordinary meeting a committee meeting was held in the supper room of the hail, all members being present. Mrs. Leask was added to the coinmitte in Aliss AlcMurchie’s place and was appointed treasurer. After business had been dealt with, Airs. Bartlett gave a very interesting demonstration on bouquet and posy making and w r as accorded a very hearty vote or thanks. During the afternoon Miss E. Dalziell received a trophy for having grown the best crop of potatoes in the competition. The points competition for peggy squares was well competed for, and the judge, Airs. Bartlett, placed Aliss J Powell 1, Airs. AlcDonuell 2, Airs. Kelly 3. Juniors, Aliss L. Dalzicll 1, ID. McDonnell 2, E. Dalziell 3. For July the competition will be in three classes: Prettiest and most useful article out of a sugar bag and three pieces of shortbread. There is also to be a bring and buy stall in July, the proceeds to go to the hall chimney funds. Afembers are asked to bring two books so a library can be started. Hostesses for the day were Afesdames R. G. Dalziell and K. Dalziell and Aliss L Dalziell who served a delicious afternoon tea, after which the meeting closed with the singing of the National An thorn.
