THE LOAN COLLECTION. To give the committee of the Sarjeant Gallery and others interested in art an opportunity of meeting Air. C. IL Chisman, of London, the organising director of the Empire Art Loan Collection, Dr. and Airs. 11. D. Robertson arranged a gathering which took place on Tuesday afternoon at their home in fngestre Street. To receive th* l guests Airs. Robertson wore a frock of cornflour blue cotele relieved with, beige lace. The drawing room was tastefully decorated with bowls of lovely chrysanthemums, and autumn flowers for the dining room, where afternoon tea was served. The guest of honour was introduced by Dr. IL D. Robertson (president of the Sarjeant Gallery). Mr. Chisman spoke on the objects of the Empire Loan Society and the advantage the exhibition of the collection of pictures would be to Wanganui. Questions on the matter were invited and answered. Air. J. If. Neame proposed a vote of thanks to Dr. and Airs. Robertson for their hospitality. Among those present were:—The Mayoress (Mrs. N. G.
