CROQUET. The second match for the shield was played between teams representing the president and the captain on Thursday afternoon and resulted in a win for the captain by 55 points. The captain and the president have now won a game each and as the competition has been very interesting it has been suggested that a third match be played before the end of the season. The results are as follows, the pre~&3nt’R team feeing mentioned first:— Doubles: Mesdames Sandford and Windle won from Mcsdames (Deen and Watson, 26—15; Mesdames Russell and Rieper Jost to Mesdames McDowell and Legge, 21—26; Mesdames Windle and Dickens lost to Mrs. Bowater and Aliss Legge, 22—26; Mesdames McDonald and Thompson lost to Mesdames Guy and Marshall, 18—26. Singles: Mrs. Sandford won from Mrs. Green, 26—20; Mrs. Windle lost to Mrs. Watson. 21—26; Mrs. Russell won from Mrs. McDowell. 26—18; Airs. Rieper won from Mrs. Legge. 26 —29; Mrs. Lynch lost to Mrs. Bowater 12 — 26; Mrs. Thomson lost to Mrs. Marshall. 4—26. Totals: President, 236 points; Capbin, 290 point!.
