Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, A, ril 8, 4 p.m. General Situation. —The recent anti-cyclone has passed further to the eastward, and the front portion of an intense westerly depression lias moved on to the South Island. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to strong northerly to north-westerly of gale force at places south of Cape Egi.-ont and Castlepoint, backing to south-westerly after 24 to 36 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough south of Cape Egmont and off shore south of Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tt“> an Sea: Strong north-west to . est winds, 1 teking shortly south-west; seas rough. Weather: Unsettled m districts with a westerly aspect anl in the far South, with rain and some heavy falls likely in Westland. Fair to cloudy and warm at first in eastern districts, and later showers extending to those parts also.
