MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Marton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night, the following Councillors being present: The Mayor (Mr. F. Purnell), and Crs. G. B. Gregory, T. Barton, A. Mclndoe W. B. Langstone, J. D. Gorrie, A. Honeyman and K. A. Williams. A letter was received from district engineer, New Zealand Railways, accepting council’s quote for tar-sealing Wellington Road and Pukepapa Load crossings.—Received. A letter was rceived from postmaster. asking for a quotation per ton for eighteen tons of uncrushed coke ex yard, delivery to be spread over six months if desired.—Referred to the Gas Committee. A letter was received from the Public Works Department, in respect to claims for maintenance on Curls Bridge-Upper Tutaenui and Calico Line-Cliff "Road highways advising that the items for £5 for lirewood in each case has been deleted from the claims. —Referred to the Main Highways Board. A letter was received from FullertonSmith and Co., asking council’s consent to a subdivision of part section 17, R. A. R. lot 82, forwarding memorandum of transfer with plan endorsed thereon. —Approved. A letter was received from A. Haworth, trustee in estate of W. S. I Dustin, forwarding cheque under proI test for £4 2s 6d on account of rates, referring to the application for revaluation which has been deferred until the Assessment Court sits when any amendments made to the valuations will be retrospective to March 31, 1933. —Received. ATHLETIC SPORTS. The following handicaps have been declared for the sports meeting to have been held this evening, but postponed till next Tuesday owing to the Cycling.
