PROFESSORS’ SALARIES
COMING CUT IN GERMANY. University professors in Germany of the Einstein class —those receivingextra remuneration on account of their names or the heavy expenses incidental to their laboratory experiments—are to suffer big cuts in salaries next year. As university fees have risen considerably during the past few years there has been a clamour for reduction so that the poor student can get through a course which has been costing far more than the original estimate. But it is argued that to lower the fees would merely mean a new influx of would be academicians, which the Government wishes to hinder at all costs.
