ALLEGED THEFT
A CLERK CHARGED. [ Per Press Association. I GISBORNE, Dec. 21. Yesterday at Ruatoria Detective McLeod arrested Henare Paonanga, who later appeared in Court on a charge that on or about June 13 at Ruatoria, being a clerk in the employ of the Native Land Department he did steal £6 3s 6d, the property of the department. On the application of the detective accused was remanded by consent to January 17, the detective indicating that further inquiries were necessary. Bail of £lOO and one surety of £lOO wiu allowed.
