MEMBER FAREWELLED On Wednesday afternoon the Gonville Croquet Club members assembled to farewell Miss Tipping, who is leaving shortly for Australia. The pavilion looked attractive and the tables were arrayed with golden icelaud poppies and asparagus. A very dainty afternoon tea was partaken, which was enjoyed by those present. Airs. Hoar, vice-president of the club, spoke very feelingly of losing Miss Tipping, who had proved a good member and efficient player, and presented the guest of honour with a beautiful bouquet, which consisted of sweetpeas, roses, earnations and asparagus. In presenting the bouquet, Mrs Hoar mentioned that flowers were always a suitable present and were given in sorrow, joy, or on any occasion. Miss Tipping suitably responded and a delightful little afternoon was brought to a close with singing “For She’s a Jolly Good Follow.” Amongst those present were Miss Tipping, Mesdames Hoar, Hay. Murray, Astbury, Warnock, WebbJones, Clark, Michie, Fisher, Uttlcy, Beard, Bcavcn, Andrew, Brider, Firth. Johnstone, Murphy, Drake, Wood, Misses Stewart, Aslin and O’Neale.
