COASTAL FREIGHT RATES INCREASE NEXT MONTH. SYDNEY, May IS. 'l'he Associated Inter-State. Shipowners have decided Io make an increase of a shilling a ton in the rates of freight between Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, and Melbourne. Tho higher rates which will operate on Juno 1 will bo as follow: Sydney to Brisbane 17s per ton; Melbourne to Brisbane 265; Sydney to Melbourne 16s; Newcastle to Brisbane 17s; Newcastle to Melbourne •18s 60.
