NEW FRENCH SLOOP

SAVORGNAN DE BRAZZA. [ Per Press Association. ) AUCKLAND, May 17. One of the latest French war sloops, Savorgnan de Brazza, will arrive at Auckland on June 3 in the course of an extended cruise of the Pacific. The warship will again leave on June 10 for New Caledonia. As the J.oop will arrive at Auckland on the King’s Birthday it is probable that added ceremony will mark the occasion. The Savorgnan de Brazza is a vessel of 2000 tons with Diesel motors and a speed of 15.5 knots, which has been considerably increased in her trials. She carries three gun s of 138 mm. and four of 37 mm. and also a light hydroplane. She is manned by 14 officers and 120 men. The class to whieh the vessel belongs was specially designed for service in warm climates
