THE PIPE BAND The annual meeting of the Hunterville Pipe Band was held on Wednesday nignt, Mr. Logan McLean presiding. The annual report and the balancesheet, which showed a credit balancu of £2B 3s 2d, were read and adopted. The assets as at March 31 amounted to £270 6s lid. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patroness, Mrs. T. A. Duncan; president, Mr. Logan McLean; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. McDonald, W. O’Brien, W. Fergusson, D. Cameron, B. H. Pitcaithly, J. Duke, JF. Perry, A. H. McLean, J. M. Abel. D. M. Mackay; hon. secretary, Mr. W S. Taylor; treasurer, Mr. D. M. Mackay; hon. auditor, Mr. L. J. Thompson; social committee (re-elected); delegate to Pipe Bands’ Association executive, Mr. Colin Urquhart. It was pointed out by the secretary that on several occasions the band had visited Marton for bare expenses, and on an occasion the visit had cost the band 2s. He did not consider that any town should get the band for nothing. He moved that a minimum charge of £1 is and expenses be made for any evening engagement.—This was carried unanimously. Mr. Mackay referred to the efficiency of Mr. Taylor as secretary, stating that he had worked strenuously in the interests of the band. He move.J that he be granted an honorarium of £33. This was carried by acclama tion. The secretary suitably replied Mr. Malcolm Ross was elected a life member of the nand. It was decided that Mr. Wright, of Wanganui, be engaged to visit and give instruction to pipers and drum mers. Meeting of Bandsmen The active members of the band held a meeting at the conclusion of the annual meeting for the purpose of the election of officers, which resulted as follow:—Pipe Major, F. J. Mclntyre; Pipe Sergeant, A. B. Abel; Pipe Corporal, R. Parkes; Drum-major, A. W. Aidworth; Drum sergeant, H. Me Intyre; custodian, A. B. Abel; execu tive committee, I. Cameron, S. Wilton, P. Horn, A.
