Pango nearly sprang a surprice at Hawera when he boat all but Fairway in the Tawhiti Hack Handicap. His display will bring him into favour for his engagement in the Bata Hack today. Fairway will try to make it three on end when he starts in the Balgownie Hack to-day. He won at Marton and Hawera and is very well. Grand Lahu is useful but there is just the chance that bleeding may tell its tale in the mile and a distance hack event to-day. Nebulae won a double at the Marton summer meeting and showed that ho is a useful sort. He should be hard to beat in the Borough Hack this afternoon. Plateau ran two excellent races at Otaki as far back as October, but when he took on better company at Trentham he failed. This brother to Crown Area has a good chance to redeem himself in the Rata Hack to-day. Instalment appeared likely to score at Hawera, but he did not got the best of runs in tho five-furlong event there. It would not surprise to see Instalment in the picture in the Borough Hack Handicap to-day. * * • • Among arrivals last night was Queen’s Diadem, who is not engaged today, but may bo seen out in the Purua Hack Handicap on Saturday.
