DISCOUNT RATE
AUSTRALIAN REDUCTIONS SAVING TO GOVERNMENTS Received May 10, 11,5 p.m. MELBOURNE, May IU. Senator Massy Greene, chairman of tho Loan Council, announced that the Commonwealth Bank proposed to discount Treasury bills from June 1 at 2| per cent., represents a fur Iher reduction of a quarter per cent, in the discount rate. Tho rate has been progressively reduced since July, 1931, from 6 to 2-i per cent. The latest reduction will mean a saving to the various Govern meets of £130,000.
