DAVIS CUP GAMES FIRST ROUND WINNERS. I IRELAND AND AUSTRIA. LONDON, May 9. In the IDavis Cup elimination matches at Copenhagen, Rogers (Ireland) defeated Jacobsen (Denmark), 6 —l, 6—3, 6—4. Ulrich (Denmark) defeated McVeagh (Ireland), 6—2, 6—3, 6—3. Ireland won tho tie by three matches to two, and meets Japan in the second round. At Brussels, Lacroix (Belgium) defeated Artens (Austria), 6—2, 6—2, 6— 4. Matjeka (Austria) defeated de Borman (Belgium), 2—6, 6—4, 6—o, 3—6, 6—3.
Austria won by three matches to two, and meets Italy in the second round. MRS. MOODY FOR WIMBLEDON WILL DEFEND SINGLES TITLE. SAN FRANCISCO, May 9. Mrs. Helen Wills-Moody has announced that she will defend her Wimbledon single title, leaving for England next week. She will not compete in other countries.
