TAIHAPE

CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW. Many magnificent blooms were displayed at the chrysanthemum show, held in the Presbyterian Hall, Taihape, on Wednesday afternoon, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild. Wednesday ’s show was the first of its kind to be held in Taihape, but judging by the success which attended the fixture, it is to be hoped that a chrysanthemum show will become an annual event in Taihape. The show was officially opened by the Mayor of Taihape (Mr. L. B. H. de Lautour) who made pleasing reference to the wonderful display of blooms, and remarked that the show reflected great credit on all concerned, especially the secretary (Rev. E. T. lying). The following is a list of the officials who were connected with the function:—Judges: Mr. A. Gibson of Marton (cut flowers); Mrs. Harris of Turakina (decorative section); Mr. F. Daniels (cookery section); Mesdames Emerson and Harris (apron competition). Secretary, Rev. E. T. King; Sewing stall, Mesdames Marsh and Miller; afternoon tea, Mesdames J. Thompson, King. Robertson, McKenzie, Cameron, McDonald, Misses A. Marsh, M. Peacock, E. Riley; produce stall, Mesdames Leighton, F. Hamill. Wilsher. Afternoon tea was served in the Sunday Schoolroom and was very much appreciated. A musical programme was presented in the evening, the performers being loudly applauded.
