THE TROUBLE SPREADING. Press Association messages indicate that the shipping deadlock is spreading to all the coastal ports and a holdup o£ all coastal trade seems imminWestport. As a sequel to the meeting of seamen held at Westport last night the Kini, Canopus and Totara are all held up. The Wai pah i is due from Auckland to day and is also be idled. Nelson.
The Arahura arrived at 10.10 yesterday morning after a 12j hours’ trip from Wellington with a volunteer erew. Just before sailing the stewards and cooks walked off and the 185 passengers had to fend for themselves, cups of tea and breakfast being provided. Acting on instructions from Welling ton the loyal watersiders refused to work the vessel and unloading was done by the shore staff. The vessel, whose running is maintaining an essential service, sail last evening with a full complement of passengers, including a large number of northern pupils of the Nelson Colleges returning for the holidays. Greymouth. Shipping trouble u developing at Greymoutb. The crew of the Kartigi informed the master that they would not take the ship to sea unless instructed by the Seamen's Union.
The Kaimiro arrived yesterday morn ing and is due to sail on Sunday. Simi lar action by the men is expected.
