TWO MILLION MARK
WAR LOAN CONVERSIONS APPLICATIONS POURING IN [ British Official Wirelew ] RUGBY, July 29. Applications for the conversion oC 5 per cent, war loan have now reached the two million mark. Only 600.000 holdings remain to be dealt with. The Bank of England yesterday received 640,000 applications for conversion and 3400 for redemption. The applications to the Post Office Ravings Bank were 21.000. bringing the aggregate to 690,000, of which over 606.000 were for conversion. Many holders who applied for redemption in cash have since cancelled their applications and requested conversion. One such application yesterday was for £500,000. Nearlv 4500 clerks are working overtime till 10 o’clock every evening, and 82 per cent, of the voluntary workeri are foregoing their right to the holiday on August 1 to handle the rush of work.
