A.O.F. DANCE
The Ancient Order of Foresters held an enjoyable dance in the Victoria League Rooms, St. Hill Street, on Wednesday evening, when a good crowd danced to music supplied by the “Gloom Chasers’ ” Orchestra, under Mr F. Kirk, and a dainty supper was served by Mrs Bowes. Among the dancers were: Mesdames Wadsworth, pink silk net; B. Phillips, red crepe de chino, figured crepo de chine coatee; F. Bigbie, blue crepo de chine, silver bridge coat; W. Holder, blue satin beaut; C. la Pouple, pale pink georgette, with satin eoateo to match; D. H. Doak, mushroom floral satin, ami velvet coatee; Misses I. McIntyre, pink taffeta and lace, and black velvet coatee; V. Staito, white satin, and black velvet coatee; E. Wheal, pink georgette, and guipure lace; V. Bryan, Erin green satin with lace coatee; R. Houlahan, white mariette, with floral coatee; A. Syman, blue floral georgette; F. Bishop, midnight blue crepe do chine with floral coatee; V. Campbell; R. Burson; Messrs S. McCallum, R. A. Price, E. Thiele, N. Reid, W. Price, Fairhurst, Phillips, F. Bigbio, R. Swallow, G. McIntyre, C. J. Higgins, A. Collings, D. 11. Doak, J. W. Storey, C. Marshal], T. E. Flannagan, M. Brown, E. Tin gey, B. Stroud, A. McKee, and many others. PALAIS DE DANSE. DRUIDS’ HALL This popular dance will be hold as usual to-night, when the old-time favourite and modern dances will bo the programme. Delightful and spirited music will bo supplied by the Gaiety : Dance Band, and patrons arc assured of a good time. Good supper, splendid floor, good Monte Carlo prizes, coloured light effects. TO RELIEVE DISTRESS As a result of the series; of bridge ! parties arranged by the Mayoress (Mrs. N. G. Armstrong), and a committee of ladies to raise funds to buy materia] to make garments for distressed families, a large quantity of material has been bought which has kept three sewing bees very busy. “It is very good of everyone the way they nre giving up their leisure time to help in the good cause,” said the Mayoress. “One helper litu? made in i one week ten pairs of trousers for j small boys and others are doing sirni lar good work.” With the money already raised many yards of material has been bought, also 80 yards of chintz for making intn wool quilts. The tradespeople gave kindly help by reducing the material to half price, and as well as the sewing bees many others are offering their help.
