Frank Mitchell, a shop assistant, of Kiccarton, was charged with assaulting Leslie Gordon Taylor at Hornby during a dance and was sentenced to a month’s gaol by the magistrate (Air. Mosley). The sub-inspector said that accused hit Taylor with a poker two or three times. He was under the influence of liquor. “Anyone who would use this pokei on a man would cither be not in his right senses or out looking for murder,” he added.
