ANGLICAN SUNDAY SCHOOL. CHILDREN’S PARTY. The members of the Anglican Sunday School held their annual party last Friday evening. The Bible Classes and children from Otairi, Silverhope and Poukiore were also represented. About 70 children and adults were present. After a sumptuous tea there were games, and the following programme was rendered by the children: Recitation, “St. Valentine’s Day,” Henry Clark; recitation, “The Willows,” Audrey Thomson; recitation, R. Boyne; recitation, Rae Hardy; song, Sunday School children; song, “Tiny Wee Bird,”-J. Jones, A. Thomson and A'. Nichsort; recitation, “Off to the Races,” J. Nicholson; duet, “Fairy Glade,” D. Nicholson and B. Clark; recitation, Jack Klue; recitation, Audrey Thomson; recitation. Fay Jones; carol, “See amid the Winter snow,” S.S. children; song, “Tiny Wee Daisy,” Joan Klue; recitation, Margaret Hardy; recitation, “Isabel’s Umbrella,” B. Clark; song, “Snow Flakes,” Fay Jones; carol, “The first Nowell,” S.S. children; song, “The Seed Song,” S.S. children; song, “Jesus Bids us Shine,” S.S. children. Community singing at which the Bible Class boys assisted and supper concluded a most delightful evening. Thanks are due to the teachers Mrs. I Butemcnt and Miss E. Bewick for I their valuable help. SILVERHOPE DANCE SUCCESSFUL EVENT. With the object of swelling the electric light fund a daroce was organised bv the Silverhope Hall Committee and i held in the hall on Friday night, when the attendance exceeded expectations and made the function enjoyable• and successful. Excellent music on the piano wns supplied by Miss I). Howie and Mr E. Robinson. The duties of M.’sC. wore carried out bv Messrs I. Lourie, J. Awainson, A. V. Sutton, J. Stewart and J. Taylor. Tncidded in the programme was a waltzing competition ami from a good “field” of dancers. Mr Teina selected Mr and Mrs V. J. Cosgrave as winners. Mr Cosgravc donated his prize hack and on being competed for it netted another useful sum for the funds. As usual a bounteous supper was < ricellenlly dispensed by the ladies. RATA HOCKEY. ■ Ihe dance and card party run. by I the hockey club was successful in every wav, the not profits being in the vicinity of £2. SCHOOL EXCURSION. Ou Friday last a. party of 32 school • hildron, accompanied by their teachers, journed to Wanganui. The party l“t’t Rata at 6.45 a.m., returning by the 7.50 p.m. train —a long day. but both an [enjoyable ami instructive one. Except J for a long dreary wait at Marton, both coming ami going, the train arrange monts were excellent, and the court'sy and consideration of the railway offivials were very pleasing features of the day’s outing. The party was met at Aramoho b> members of the Wanganui Development League and taken through the woollen mills there by courtesy of the manager. Certain members were detailed and through their patience and kindly offices the children were taken throuen

the mills step by step and saw the wool transformed from fleece to tho various articles to which this mainstay of the country is put. The' party then boarded tho trams and here again were met with kindness and consideration as they wore convoyed to tho show grounds. Tho trip on the trams and entrance to the grounds were free to rhe party. Cure a era in they were met with every possible kindness and consideration and to cap the day’s enjoyment each individual was given a packet of those biscuits seen in the course of manufacture for consumption on the homeward trip.
