RUGBY FOOTBALL To-day’s match for the Waverlcy team will again be played on the Waverlcy grounds, starting sharp at 2.45 p.m. Waverley will play against Kai Iwi to-day, the following being the team: Ford, Huff, McClenaghan, Olli ver; Fitzgibbon, Carey; Hartney; Hair. Southcombe, Neal; Spencer, Quayle; Valentine, Cunningham, Hammond. Mr. J. Verry will referee. Other games in the sub-union will be: Waitotara v. Up-river at Waitotara, Mr. H. Birnie referee; Rangitatau v. P-W.D. at Piranui, Mr. H. Cowan referee. Although after last week’s game to-day’s match may prove not so exciting. nevertheless onlookers can be assured of a good game. The Waver-ley-Rangitatau match brought the sub union quite a good gate. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE After postponing the monthly meet ing of tiie Waverlcy Women’s Institute from last Friday, June 10, to Wednesday, the attendance was not so good as had been expected. Ln spite of this, however, the officials for the year were elected, the nominations having been affirmed at the previous mooting. They are: President, Mrs. Salter; vice-president, Mrs. Ballun tyne; committee, Mesdames Mitcalfe, Anderson, Sutherland Stewart, Grant, Quayle, and Misses Edwards and MeMeckin; hon. secretary, Miss Helen Wall. Programmes for the next, few meet ings were arranged. A jumbled names competition was won by Mrs. Ba I lant y ue. ♦ SOCIAL : Mrs. C. J. Dickie entertained a nuni- | her of her sons’ friends at a delight I iul evening, when lour bridge tables i had been arranged. Beautiful pinky chrysanthemums were arranged in the I drawing-room, where a bright log fire | kept the winter cold at bay. At. the ' close of play Miss N. Mathieson and Mr. N. Parsons were presented with prizes for top scores. Among those present besides the hostess and the two hosts. Arthur and Eric, were Mr. and Mrs. S. Train, Misses M. Brewer. C. Walkinton, J. Train, A. and P. Graham, N. Barrow, N. Mathieson and Messrs. Parsons (2), Bosley, N. Spratt. C. Barrow, J. Walkinton. GOLF The draw for the L.G.U. medal round to be played next Tuesday.
