LEEDS TOURNAMENT FINAL AT 39th HOLE. . Received Alay 22, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 21. At the Afoortown links in tho Leeds golf tournament final, Hodson defeated Robson at the 39th hole. The veteran Robson gave the pluckiest display, despite being 4 down at the, 18th. He squared the game at the .‘lOth and took the lead for tho first time at tho 31st. Robson was ultimately dormic. Hodson won tho last holo and halved the 37th and 38th, after which tragedy overwhelmed Robson. His second went into tho long grass and as the ball was hardly visible he picked it up, acknowledging defeat. AMERICAN WINNERS DEFEAT OF ENGLAND. WOMEN’S MATCH RESULTS. Received Al ay 22, 5.5. p.m. LONDON, May 21. The first Anglo-American women’s golf match, played at Wentworth, was won by the Americans. Tho foursomes resulted:—Airs. Vare and Airs. Hill beat Alisses Wethered and Morgan, one up; Alisses Van Wie and Hicks beat Alisses Wilson and Watson, 2 and 1; Aliss Orcutt and Airs. Chcnery beat Alisses Gourlay and Park, one up. The singles resulted:—Aliss Wethered beat Airs. Vare, 6 and 4; Aliss Wilson beat Aliss Hicks, 2 and 1; Airs. Chenery beat Aliss Coplett, 4 and 3; Aliss Fishwick beat Aliss Orcutt, 4 and 3; Aliss Van Wie beat Aliss Morgan, 2 and 1; Aliss Gourlay halved with Airs. Hill.

The English girls played much below form, being especially weak in putting, while the Americans maintained their reputations.

CASTLECLIFF CLUB FLAG MATCH RESULTS PLAY ON SATURDAY As usual, the flag match played by tho Castlecliff Golf Club on Saturday was followed with a great deal of interest, the several moves of tho flag giving an indication of the trend of the scoring. Tho senior flag was first planted on tho 17th green by Wagstaff. Rowling took it to tho 18th fairway and Hounscll then brought it on to tho 18th green, where it remained for a lengthy period. Wood, who was playing well, took it 6n the 19th green to wv a good match. Tho junior flag was first planted on tho 17th fairway. Frank Wiggins, who is Castlecliff’s most promising junior, took it on to the 19th fairway to win 1 the junior section without trouble. A medal round was played in conjunction. SEAFIEID CLUB SATURDAY’S MEDAL MATCH SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND At the Seafield Golf Club’s links on Saturday a medal match was played in conjunction with the second qualifying round.

WANGANUI CLUB FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND That keen interest is being taken in the Wanganui Golf Club competitions this year was evident at Belmont on Saturday by the large number competing in the first qualifying round. The best gross score was returned by B. M. Silk, who heads the list for the Powdrell Cup. Ho also returned the best net score—73, scr.—73—and besides winning the A Grade Medal match, leads for the captain’s prize, for which, however, only tho two best scores out of tho three rounds are counted. Sixteen are to qualify tn each division. The results are as follow:
